Gen Korean BBQ House (Los Angeles, California)

12/23/2015 Wednesday

There is a Korean BBQ restaurant that just opened near our house, the line was always long and the wait time is around 3 hours or more. I have been wanting to try out the restaurant but due to the long wait time, I was planning to wait for a few more months for the crowd to die down.

Luckily, there are many branches here in Los Angeles as the restaurant was started in LA. We called several places to find out the wait time and picked one that had the shortest wait time as there was no reservations allowed unless you have 10 or more people.

We reached the restaurant and put our name on the wait list, waited about 45 minutes before we were brought to our table. It was a long table that was shared with 2 other parties with a small divider on each side. It was a little awkward to have other people in the same table but at this time, we were all really hungry, so we just sat down.

It is an all you can eat buffet where you order the food from the menu and the waiter will bring you the food and you will have to barbecue the food yourself. There was also cooked dishes that you can order as well. Since it was dinner time, there have more items on the menu compared to lunch time. We ordered a few meat dishes, shrimp, tofu soup and some cooked items. The food came out pretty quick and Anthony started BBQ'ing the food while the rest of us started eating. Since it was Korean, they also gave us some small side dishes to eat with our meal.

Overall, the food was okay, I wish there were more variety of seafood. This would be a good place for people who likes to eat meat because most of the dishes are meat. Also, I wish that the food would have been cooked for us already since Anthony has to keep watching the food so that they don't get burned, he ended up not being able to enjoy his meal. Prices here are cheaper than in San Jose (Northern California).

For the price that we paid ($20/adult, $10/child not including tax and tips), I think it was worthwhile to try out this restaurant. It's definitely cheaper than if you were to order a la carte in a Korean restaurant. So for people who like meat and don't mind cooking the food, this should be a good place to try.

Day 1 -- Los Angeles, California

12/23/2015 Wednesday

We planned a trip to Southern California and Las Vegas during the winter break. Since we have Six Flags season pass as we go to the one in Vallejo, we also decided to go to the Magic Mountain on our way to Los Angeles as the season pass allows us to go to any Six Flags theme park without any charge.

We parked our car in the parking lot and took a shuttle bus to the entrance. You can also walk there.

Since it was around Christmas, the park was decorated with pretty lights and decorations.

There wasn't much crowd which was unexpected as the Six Flags in Vallejo was always crowded. Maybe it's because we don't have many theme parks in Northern California because in LA, there are many different theme parks such as Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, etc.

The kids were able to get on multiple rides without waiting except for the bumper car.

We queued up three times for the bumper car as they love it so much. Then we went to the Super Heroes section of the park, which we didn't have in Vallejo.

After that, we went to the carousel and roller coaster.

It was starting to get dark but the kids still didn't want to leave, so we stayed and got on a few more rides before calling it a day.

And my lovely Maddie gave me a heart :-)

By the time we leave, it was completely dark and the lights were on, which was so pretty.

After the park, we left to check in to our hotel in Glendale as we plan to go to Universal Studios tomorrow. After checking in and putting our luggage in the room, we decided to venture out for dinner. I have a separate post on the restaurant.
