Day 7 -- Bali, Indonesia

 6/15/2023 Thursday

Itinerary:

  • ATV at Ubud

I had planned to have a relaxing day today as it was a long day yesterday from the tour. But Mason wanted to do something fun, so I had booked last night an ATV adventure for him and Anthony since Madison couldn't drive the ATV by herself as she was under 16 years old. So, I stayed at the hotel with her and relax around the pool while the boys went on their ATV adventure.

After breakfast, we send the boys to the lobby where the driver was waiting. The driver took them to Ubud area and it was a 2 hours drive like yesterday. They met up at the ATV shop where they went on a 2 hour drive around rice fields, jungles, riverbanks. I was a bit worried about Mason as he do not have a driver's license yet, so I was quite surprised when I found out that he was allowed to drive an ATV as long as he is 16 years old and up.

One thing to note is that cellphone is not allowed during the ATV tour, so you can't take any pictures but they will ask if you want them to take the pictures for you and you can buy them afterwards. I wished that Anthony would have told them to take the photos while they were having fun but anyway, this is the only photo that I have for the ATV. Mason was super embarrassed that his dad asked the tour guide if he could get on the ATV for a picture and everyone in the tour was waiting for him.

After the ATV, the boys were provided lunch and relaxed a bit at the restaurant which was very nice views.

After resting for a while, the boys were brought back to the hotel. By the time they arrived, it was already late afternoon. We were at the lounge for Happy Hour when the boys returned and Mason started telling me how fun it was. It's been a while since I see him so excited. We have been to a few different ATV/UTV at different countries but this is the best that Mason has been to. It was also fun for him as it's his first time driving the ATV. He was so proud that he was initially the last one in the group and he was able to catch up and become the first in line.

I am so glad that the boys had so much fun and the prices for the ATV was so cheap compared to all the other countries we have been to. It cost less than $30/person if you don't need the transfer to and from the hotel. But since we needed the driver to come and pick us up, it was about $55/person which is still very cheap. One way that you can save is to just get the ATV tour and hire a driver to take you to the destination. It would save you quite a bit of money if you have a family of 4 or so as the cost of a driver is very cheap. But if you don't like the hassle like us, it's much easier to just book the package including the driver.

For dinner, we just walked to Bali Collection and ordered some food from one of the restaurants. We also went to the beach to watch sunset and took some pictures. It was a beautiful cotton candy colored sunset. We slept early today as we have an early tour tomorrow.
