Day 2 -- San Diego, California

12/27/2014 Saturday

Today, we plan to spend the entire day at Seaworld. The first thing we did when we arrive was to get the show schedule and the map so that we can plan our day efficiently.

We wanted to see the killer whale (aka Shamu) performance since we no longer have the show at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo. The kids were fortunate to see the last show at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

The only killer whale that was at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom was moved to Seaworld San Diego as they thought that she was lonely by herself since separating her from her companion earlier due to compatibility reasons. Her name is Shouka and she was born in France. She has joined the other 8 killer whales in Seaworld San Diego.

For those who want to watch the killer whale show at Seaworld San Diego, you might want to go soon as they plan to phase out the show by 2017 or sooner.

The killer whales were also splashing water to the audience that were seated in the front rows. I am glad that we weren't one of them. Since it's December, it was pretty cold to be wet.

Look at how much force the killer whales have.

Even when they are under the water, we could still see them easily.

During the show, there were also acrobats performers.

The stadium was packed with people since it was during the holidays and many people are on vacation. Plus, it was also a weekend.

After the show, we went to see some sharks.

Maddie & her popcorn. This little girl loves popcorn so much.

Since it was during the holidays, they have a special area where you feel like that you are in Santa's Village. You can do some ice sledding and play with snow.

We watched another animal show before calling it a day as we have to meet our friends for dinner.

I have a college best friend who has the same birthday as me. Not only does she has the same month and day, she was also born the same year. We became best friends in college and now she lives about 2 hours away from me. We haven't been able to see each other often but after finding out that we were both going to San Diego during the holidays, we decided that we have to meet no matter what, especially since it was our birthday.

We met at George's At The Cove restaurant which was at the heart of La Jolla.
