Day 5 -- Las Vegas, Nevada

12/27/2015 Sunday

Today is my birthday, so as usual, I planned my own birthday and Anthony just followed my cue.

First, we woke up to a beautiful view of the Paris hotel and the High Roller (Ferris Wheel). According to Wikipedia, it is the tallest Ferris Wheel in the world and was opened in 2014. It is 550 foot tall and 520 in diameter and 9 feet taller than the Singapore Flyer which held the record since 2008.

The day view of Las Vegas is so different than the night view and personally, I love the night view much better as the lights really brings out the beauty of this city.

We went to pick up some stuff from the car and on the way to the garage, we saw this pretty art on the wall, so I took a picture for Mason.

In the elevators of Cosmopolitan, they show different moving images every time we go in there. It's pretty cool.

On the way out of the hotel, we pass by the beautiful crystals again, so I had to take a picture with them since I wasn't in the picture last night.

Then we went on our way to M&M world as the kids wanted to check out the stuff there and also the 3D movie.

We went there and the kids were so excited with the stuff that was sold there.

We bought them a few souvenirs and then went to watch the 3D movie. It was a fun movie for the kids.

After M&M world, we decided to go to Flamingo hotel to check out their Flamingos. On the way there, we passed by the Harley Davidson theme restaurant where you can see their large motorcycle on the wall outside their restaurant. If you are interested in theme restaurants in Vegas, here is a link that have the information.

The kids have seen Flamingos in our local zoos but I thought it would be cool to take them see the birds again in Vegas.

After the Flamingos, we decided to go to The Venetian for the Gondola Ride. When we reached there, there was a long time for the tickets and we were told the next available ride was in the early afternoon, so we decided to queue up and buy the later night ride so that we can go to Circus Circus and dinner before coming back for the ride.

After we got the tickets, we went on our way to Circus Circus. It's been so long since I last went there, so I forgot how far it is. On hindsight, we should have drove or took the bus. Instead we walked all the way there so that the kids can go to the arcade and have some fun. It was a far walk and I probably won't walked there again.

We passed by many hotels and here are some pictures.

I used to watch the Pirate show at Treasure Island when I was there but it looks like the show has been stopped.

When we finally reached Circus Circus, the kids were so happy. They played at the arcade for about an hour and had a lot of fun.

They won some tickets from the games they played but it wasn't enough to redeem any good toys, and Maddie really wanted a soft toy. So, I asked Anthony to play against other people so that he can win a soft toy for Maddie and Mason as well. Anthony is pretty good at the water shooting game and since it had Hello Kitty soft toy as the reward, he picked it to play and won. Maddie was so happy that her daddy got her toy.

Now that we got the toy for Maddie, we had to also get it for Mason. And since Mason was not a fan of Hello Kitty, we moved to another game. Again, Anthony picked a water shooting game since he's good at that. He didn't win the first game and had to play the second time to win a big bear for Mason.

After getting the toys for both kids, it was time to relax and we watched the circus performance there. It was quite entertaining although it was pretty cramped there as the space is small and there were a lot of spectators.

After the show, we decided to head to Bellagio for our dinner. We decided to take the bus back as everyone was tired. We bought a 3 days pass so that we can take unlimited bus rides.

We got off at Bellagio and went straight to the buffet. I have put the post on Bellagio Buffet on a separate page.

After dinner, we had to hurry and go to The Venetian for our gondola ride as we bought the tickets for 10:15pm. The wait at the buffet line took longer than expected, so we had to rush and take the bus. Luckily, we arrived 10 minutes before the ride and waited there.

Once we got on the ride, the gondolier started talking to us. We told him that it was my birthday, so he sang me a Happy Birthday song in Italian. Although I couldn't understand a single word but it sounded very romantic. He even posed for me while I was taking a picture. We are so lucky to have a handsome young lad as our gondolier. A bonus for my birthday :-)

After the ride, the kids were tired so we headed back to our hotel. After we got off the bus, we stopped in front of Bellagio to watch the water fountain show again. The kids really enjoyed the show and also watching the artist perform.

After we reached our room, I still had an hour before my birthday is over, so Anthony told me to go and enjoy myself in the casino while he takes care of the kids. I went downstairs; played a little slot machine and ordered a Cosmopolitan drink. I guess it's a good way to celebrate my birthday with my favorite drink.
