More than a week just flew by and Anthony's grandparents are already counting how many days we have left in Taiwan. We try to spend every morning and lunch with them before venturing out.
After lunch, I took some pictures of the kids with them.
The kids wanted to dab in the picture. I really don't know why they love to dab, looks kinda weird to me.
We took the metro to Longshan station and after getting out of the station, the temple was just across the street.
We quickly crossed the street to enter into the temple. There were many people inside the temple.
We queued up to get some incense and Mason helped me light them up so that I can pray while Anthony and Maddie waited for us on the side.
After visiting the temple, we decided to have lunch at a famous squid dumpling noodle store nearby which was established in 1921.
The food was pretty good and after lunch, we decided to try out another famous shave ice place within walking distance.
Since it was winter, they don't have many fruits, so we didn't get the fruit shave ice. If you come during summer, I would suggest getting the mango shave ice as the mangoes are really sweet. Instead we picked the peanuts, red beans, taro, mochi shave ice. There are many different ingredients and you can pick any favors you like.
After dessert, it was time to leave and we hopped on the metro to go to Ximen station which is only 1 station away. After getting off, we have reached Ximending, which is a very popular shopping area with youngsters.
There were many small stores to shop and food stalls selling snacks. We bought some drinks and snacks to eat while we shop.
Lychee red tea
Popcorn chicken, which you must try in Taiwan. It's a national dish of Taiwan.
Fried squid balls
Next, we went to Ay Chung Flour Rice Noodles to try out their noodles. It's a very popular tourist place and you can't miss the place as you will see long lines outside the stall. It's basically noodles with pig intestines.
I am personally not a fan of pig products, so it wasn't that delicious to me.
Next, we moved on to another store selling popcorn chicken as the kids wanted more.
Again, the popcorn chicken tasted really good, however this chicken came with bones, which is something that the kids didn't like. Most of the popcorn chicken are boneless, but this particular brand comes with bones. Nonetheless, it was still very tasty.
Then, we walked towards the Cinema street where they are a few different cinemas on the same street.
It was starting to get dark and we also went to American street nearby. The reason that it is called American street is that the stores there sell American brand name goods. We passed by an arcade, so we stopped to play some games.
After the games, we went to watch the street performers. While watching, Maddie was picked to be part of the performance and she did a great job with her cartwheel and keeping the ball spinning.
Here's a video of the performance.
Braised tofu, egg and duck feet
We shopped for a little bit more before deciding to eat dinner. Even though we wasn't hungry but it was getting late, so we looked around for a nice place for dinner. One of the restaurants that we like was fully booked till 1 hour and 30 minutes later. Since we didn't want to wait that long, so we decided to go to Taipei Main Station to search for dinner.
We found a nice Japanese restaurant inside the ShinKong Mitsukoshi mall.
Yogurt drink and red tea
Whole sesame seeds for us to pound into powder and put it in our salad
Salad with miso dressing
Kids meal
Fried breaded oysters
Fried shrimp and fried fish
Mochi and green tea with red bean ice cream
By the time we finished dinner, the mall was about to close and we were one of the last customers to leave the mall. When we exited the elevator, the employees were waiting outside and bowed to us when we exit to greet us goodbye.
