Itinerary:
- Flight to Korea
- Connecting flight to Bangkok, Thailand
- Last leg of the flight to Koh Samui, Thailand
- Check in at Conrad Koh Samui
We have a 11:30am flight from our local airport, so we went to the lounge for some brunch.
It was around Christmas time, so there was a small Christmas tree inside the lounge.
It's our first time taking Korean Air and the service was pretty good.
Our final destination is Koh Samui, Thailand and since there was no direct flight, we had to transfer in Korea and Bangkok before reaching the beautiful island of Koh Samui. It took more than 24 hours from our hometown to reach Koh Samui and we almost missed our connecting flight in Korea as the flight leaving our hometown was delayed due to the busy holiday traffic. We had to wait for 15 planes in front of us to take off before it's our turn.
The flight to Korea was about 13 hours and we had to run to our connecting flight in order to not miss the flight to Korea. The Korea airport was large and we had to go through their screening before we can go to our connecting flight. By the time we reached the counter, we had only 10 minutes before the plane leaves. Luckily, we made it just on time.
Once we reached the Bangkok airport, we realized that our baggage did not made it to the flight and was on the way with the later flight. We had another flight to Koh Samui which is about an 1 hour flight time and luckily our baggage made it on time.
Trying out the famous Thai tea at ChaTraMue at Suvarnabhumi International Airport before our flight to Koh Samui.
It was in the evening when we reached Koh Samui and we had our driver waiting for us at the airport. It took about 1 hour of driving to reach our hotel.
The hotel that we are staying at is Conrad Koh Samui and it is situated at the south west of the island far away from the main tourist area.We were served refreshing lemongrass water during check-in and we had a host for our family. She took us to our room in her buggy as the hotel is on the hill and it's hard to walk. Once we reached our room, she explained the activities that we have in the hotel, the different restaurants, etc but we were too tired to listen. She also helped us book some activities and the shuttle bus to the town of Chaweng and Lamai.
We called for room service for dinner as everyone was so tired from the long hours of flying. It was Christmas eve but we turned in early and didn't do much celebration.
