Day 3 - Australia and Singapore Trip

07/01/2018 Sunday

Itinerary:
  • Arriving in Hamilton Island, Australia
  • Tour around Hamilton Island, Australia
After a short 2.5 hours flight, we arrived at Hamilton Island. It's a very beautiful island which is quite small. It took us less than 1 hour to go around the island with the golf cart. There are no rental cars in this island and only rental golf carts. You can either rent the golf carts for ~$100/day with insurance covered or take the free shuttle bus.

After we collected our luggage, we took the hotel shuttle to get to our hotel, Reef View Hotel. It's about a 5 minutes drive to the hotel.

Although we arrived before our check-in time, the front desk was able to provide a room and we didn't have to wait. After resting a little, we went for a quick lunch before checking out the Catseye beach across the hotel.

We walked around the beach and went to pick up our golf cart as this will be our primary transportation on the island. We dropped by the cafe to check out the koala bear. While driving around, we also saw kangaroos roaming freely.

We drove around the island and was able to check out the entire island. We also went to check out the only grocery store in the island to buy some water and snacks. Then we had a quick dinner before falling asleep. We were pretty tired after a long flight.

A little history on Australia which I learnt from the internet. Australia is about the same size as U.S but with less people. The total number of people living in Australia is about the population in Texas.

Even though this is one of the busiest time in Australia besides Christmas as July is the school holiday, but we didn't felt that we were surrounded by people, maybe because it wasn't populated to begin with.
